Karama Beirut Human Rights Film Festival – 7th Edition

The 7th edition of the festival will be held from October 5, 2023, to October 8, 2023, at the Durrat al-Shams Theater in Tayyouneh, Beirut, Lebanon. The theme of this edition is: (Hold on), which calls for the protection of human rights and adherence to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is often misunderstood or misinterpreted, which affects its realization in practice. This, in turn, stands as an obstacle to achieving these rights on the ground.

The program for this edition will feature 15 films from around the world and Lebanon, including feature films, documentaries, short films, and translated into English and Arabic. These films address the rights of workers and people with disabilities, and violence against women, and some films also address issues of unemployment, slavery, social reconciliation, and civil peace. Local films that address the Lebanese situation from multiple angles will also be featured, with the participation of their makers for a deeper discussion of the crisis facing Lebanon.

Workshops: A training session and a discussion panel will be held on the topic of festival on the subject of the rights of people with disabilities, hosted by experts and activists, during the festival days, in addition to a special educational workshop after the film “Borderline – a film produced by Rachel Biziene” in partnership between Karama Beirut and Karama Jordan. Students from all over Lebanon will be invited to attend these activities for free.
