Sudan Film Factory Advances Film Production and Preserves Sudanese Cinematic Memory
Sudan Film Factory continued its work from July to early September 2026 across film production and development, cinematic archive preservation, restoration and circulation, filmmaker support, and regional and international partnerships.
The documentary Where Do I Belong? by Ibrahim “Snoopy” Ahmed moved into early production inside Sudan after completing its final treatment and participating in Amman Film Industry Days. It was selected for Durban FilmMart 2026 and reached the second round of the IDFA Forum, while The City Between progressed after approximately 60 percent of its principal material was filmed in Cairo.
Sudan Film Factory and Cimatheque also launched the Notes on What Remains lab, receiving 47 applications, with 42 deemed eligible and 12 applicants interviewed. The organization helped curate six restored Sudanese films for the Jerusalem Arab Film Festival, while The Dislocation of Amber continued to screen in Jeddah.
To protect cinematic memory, Sudan Film Factory recovered rare copies of six documentaries and 12 short films produced through its training programs in 2010 and 2012. The materials are being documented and digitized alongside continued research into Hussein Shariffe’s archive.
