UMAM Documentation & Research – Beirut

UMAM Documentation and Research continues to hold awareness-raising events and screenings in Beirut under the theme: “Toward a Deeper Understanding of Prisons.” Several activities were held in March, including a panel discussion on exposing Syrian prisons, and a film screening and discussion event titled “Fifty Years of Repetition: 1975–2025.”

A highlight of the month was the celebration of the 20th anniversary of UMAM’s founding, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the end of the Lebanese Civil War—a symbolic overlap that underscores the organization’s ongoing mission of confronting memory, justice, and historical accountability.
