Karama – Beirut: Preparations for the Eighth Edition

The Karama Human Rights Film Festival team in Beirut is gearing up for the eighth edition of the festival, with the director actively seeking additional funding from supportive institutions, including the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lebanon. This edition, in collaboration with the United Nations Information Center in Beirut (UNIC-Beirut) and the Anhar Network, aims to promote human rights values and raise awareness.

The theme for this year’s festival is “Remembrance,” emphasizing the significance of memory in reevaluating and advancing human rights. By recalling past events and striving to prevent future injustices and assaults on human dignity, the festival aims to stimulate dialogue and action. A curated selection of films addressing these themes and proposing solutions will be showcased.

Scheduled to span five days during the first week of October 2024, the festival will be held at the Sunflower Theater in Tayouneh, Beirut. Over 20 films from various countries worldwide will be screened, followed by discussion sessions. Additionally, a free training session titled “Memory and Cinema” will be offered to students from different regions of Lebanon.
