ACTIF Activities: Screenings in Tunisia

Within the framework of the “Future Workshops” platform project, and at the invitation of the Moroccan partner association “Think Tangier”, the Tunisian Cultural Association for Integration and Training “ACTIF” convened with all network partners (from the 23rd till the 27th of November 2022) to carry out a set of joint events, as previously implemented in Marseille during the activities of the “Marseille Films”.

The most important event was to run a workshop for a methodological experiment entitled “Tangier Turns Its Back to the Sea”. It’s an unconventional tour of the city giving an overview of the urban changes and challenges that Tangier faces, as it fights to get rid of the classic tourist approach and to explore and understand the rapid growth of Tangier in a more nuanced way.

The “Intellectual Salon”, an initiative developed with the target of inviting young residents to listen to each other, express themselves, and work together. This meeting allowed “Think Tangier” to analyze and understand the methodology of collaboration with the townspeople. A working session was organized on the transfer of knowledge, based on the two experiences that were lived in Tangiers and the two workshops that were organized during the 2022 Film Festival. It was proposed to work in sub-groups to imagine ways of transmitting life experiences. A discussion session was also held among the members of the platform to develop activities through 2023.

ACTIF Association is also preparing for the eighth edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival “Human Screen” Karama Tunisia, which will run from the 4th to the 8th of March 2023. This edition will be held in conjunction with the celebration of International Women’s Day and the launch of the national plan under the slogan: “Women’s Rights, Security and Peace”. It was announced that the call to submit and accept films would be opened from November the 10th till the 15th of January 2023. Fiction, Documentary, and animation films, long and short, are accepted.
