The Second Edition of the Children’s Rights Festival

The second edition of the Children’s Rights Festival concluded successfully, organized by the International Human Rights Film Festival for Children, from December 22 to 24, 2024, under the theme “Risky Behaviors.” The festival was held in partnership with the Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and Seniors, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Its activities spanned across 24 Tunisian governorates, including children’s centers, youth clubs, schools, cultural centers, and youth houses.

Highlighted Workshops:

  1. Addiction Prevention Workshop:
    Organized in collaboration with the National Office of Family and Population in Sfax, under the supervision of sociology expert Nidhal Rennan.

  2. Visual Arts Workshop:
    Focused on expressing the dangers of addiction through shapes and colors, facilitated by artists Sonia Chouikh and Fatma Jaber.
    Certificates of recognition were distributed to participants and contributors in the production of children’s rights films.

Film Screenings and Discussions:

  • A selection of films was screened in Kairouan, including:
    • “The Equation of the Century”
    • “Salam” (Peace)
  • A thought-provoking seminar titled “The Role of Cultural Institutions in Protecting Children from Negative Behaviors” was led by Professor Khaled Al-Hamami.

    • “The Stork Bird” by director Antar Daddouj – Algeria.
  2. Best Narrative Film: 
    • “A Letter to Aunt Safia” by director Abdelwahab Gamal Mohamed – Egypt.
  3. Best Documentary Film: 
    • “The Island” by director Mahmoud Tas – Turkey.

  • Best Narrative Film (First Prize): “Take Me Back” produced by the Youth House of Rue de Fès – Kairouan.
  • Best Narrative Film (Second Prize): “Amal” produced by the Youth House of Menzel Wardaneen – Monastir.
  • Best Documentary Film (First Prize): “A Distant Dream” produced by the Youth House of Semaer – Sfax.
  • Best Documentary Film (Second Prize): “Fadi” produced by the Youth House of Azmour – Nabeul.

Festival Message:

The Children’s Rights Festival aims to promote human rights culture among children and youth through educational screenings and creative workshops. It highlights the importance of cinema as an educational tool to raise awareness among the younger generation about humanitarian values and protecting them from negative behaviors.
